One of the days we paid the "D-day beaches" and the D-day museum a visit. You can still see the remainders of the artificial harbors that the allied troops built there.

This is what Mont St.
Michel looks like from the road. It all began as an oratory in the early
eighth century. After that it has been an oratory, a Benedictine monastery,
an Abby church and a prison.
