At Sifnos we decided to take a
day off from sailing and rented four scooters to take a look around the
island.
|
Here we are disembarking the scooters in the city of
Kastro. The small city was actually the capitol of Sifnos until the
mid 1800's. We came to Kastro during the siesta so everything was
closed and we had to look real hard to find a place to get something
to drink. |
|
Here he is, Stefan, the kamikaze photographer. There
is nothing that can stop him when he has spotted a good angle (no
wonder that we had to call him Costau). |
|
Lunch in Platis Yialos. We actually had lunch half a
meter from the water, incredible. |
|
This is the stairs down to a small bay with cliffs
that are ideal for swimming. We never realized why the small chapel
is built down there, maybe some fisherman drowned there a long time
ago? |
|
Oh, yeah, there it is again, the chapel. Beautiful
isn't it? |
|
Hmm, some rockclimbing going on here. |
|
After dusty roads and some walking in the ancient
city comes, finally, the swimming part. It's rather hard to see but
it is actually Jocke swimming around there and Bella that is looking
at him. |
|
This is an unidentified opening in one of the walls
in Kastro. The person in the opening is definitely identified as
Kerstin. |
|
This is a somewhat typical view for the Cyclades,
rather steep hills, brown soil, white houses and churches and
chapels with very blue roofs. |
|
A beautiful sunset over Kamares and the western part
of Sifnos. |
|
I don't know how he's doing it, but he sure gets
beautiful sunsets on film (Photos by Stefan Berg). |
